FBI Reveals New Details on Trump Assassination Attempt: Attacker and Weapon Identified

The FBI has released new details about the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, identifying the attacker and the weapon used. The investigation sheds light on the motives and background of the suspect, providing crucial insights into the security breach. This update highlights the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of high-profile figures and the severity of the threat posed.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has released photos of the gun used in Donald Trump's assassination attempt.

According to CNN, on Wednesday, August 28, FBI officials revealed photographs of the firearms used in the July shooting at the former president's election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The photographs revealed that the gun had a collapsible stock, which detectives believe the assailant used to conceal it.
Furthermore, the FBI is attempting to determine the mindset and motive of the attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, based on his internet search history in the days preceding the attack, and it has been discovered that the attacker researched campaign events of not only Republican candidates but also President Joe Biden.

However, he got 'hyper-focused' on Trump's Pennsylvania rally, which was barely 40 minutes away from his home.

According to Kevin Rojek, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Pittsburgh Field Office, "We saw through our analysis of all his, particularly his online searches, a sustained detailed effort to plan an attack on some events, meaning he looked at any number of events or targets."

He went on: "And then, when this event was announced, the Trump rally was announced, early in July, he became hyper-focused on that specific event and looked at it as a target of opportunity."

According to the agent, a week before the rally, the attacker looked up "Where will Trump speak from at the Butler Farm Show?" "Butler Farm Show podium" followed by "Butler Farm show photos."

Rojek also verified to reporters that 'there was no second shooter.'

Furthermore, Bobby Wells, executive assistant director of the FBI's National Security Branch, stated that, "At this time, the FBI has not identified a motive, nor have any co-conspirators or associates of Crooks with advanced knowledge of the attack."
