| Sony Launches $700 PS5 Pro: Most Expensive Console Ever with Advanced Features and Release Date Revealed |
For many years, fans and analysts alike have wondered with great excitement if Sony would ever officially announce the launch of a PlayStation 5 Pro, a more powerful and more expensive high-end console model. And finally, it happened.
The PS5 Pro will enhance graphics performance and run demanding games at a higher and more stable frame rate than before.
However, this additional power comes at a very high cost, as the PS5 Pro will be Sony's most expensive console to date.
Come November 44th this year, it will be selling for £699.99, which is several hundred more than the original PS5 console.
"There will be many comments about the price of the PS5 Pro; this is obvious," said Piers Harding-Rolls, an analyst at research firm Ampere.
As he also elaborated, it is possible that Sony hopes this new console will offer advanced performance that will compel users to change their existing machines and pay more for new games.
Mark Cerny, the chief engineer of PS5, even described it as the most advanced video game console ever constructed. He clarifies that the intention is to help answer a problem that has existed among video game players for quite some time now: Should one play to increase visual fidelity or frame rate, often at the cost of some visual quality?
Cerny stated that the PS5 Pro "is more about removing that decision, or at least narrowing that divide."
Also, in a discussion with the BBC regarding the PS5 Pro, Christopher Dring, the head of GamesIndustry.biz, stated that the console is "very targeted" and focuses on PlayStation's most enthusiastic audience.
