Rich Homie Quan's Family Announces Celebration of Life After His Death

The family of Rich Homie Quan (born Dequantes Devontay Lamar) has released an official statement following his death on September 5, 2024. According to The Source, the statement read in part: "We have lost a son and brother. He was famously known as Rich Homie Quan to the entire world, a homeboy from Atlanta, Georgia who gave all his unique sound to us.

In a statement, the Lamar family shared their heartbreak writing, "Though he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are also filled with extraordinary joy and appreciation for his legacy." They also mentioned that information about a celebration of life for the rapper would be released and that "we want to thank you all so much for your support at this time."

Rich Homie Quan gained stardom with singles like “Type of Way” and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and was previously part of Rich Gang with Young Thug and Birdman. There has been an outpour of condolences from several other hip-hop artists following his tragic and sudden death. Offset spoke on RHQ's family during the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players dinner, stating, "I pray for y'all strength, and God give you some kind of prosperity or something out this."
