Tom Cruise’s Olympics Stunt Payment Details Revealed

One month ago, Tom Cruise amazed us with a daring stunt at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony. Now, LA28 President and Chair Casey Wasserman has revealed how much Cruise billed to dazzle with a 15-minute performance at the sports' largest celebration.

The show concluded with Tom Cruise jumping from the near top of Stade de France into a cheering crowd, taking the Olympic flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and gymnast Simone Biles before making a dramatic exit on a motorcycle. The segment concluded with a spectacular pre-produced reel of montage and imagery, looking ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Games.

"For all those reasons, Tommy was a HUGE piece to the puzzle that Casey Wasserman felt needed to be moved if this movie were ever going into production." They knew they required a marquee performer for the live TV spectacle, so the producers turned to A-list producer Ben Winston.

Tom Cruise was enthusiastic about doing his stunts during one Zoom meeting. Casey Wasserman said, "Originally, we were going to use a stunt double, but Tom Cruise insisted on doing all the stunts."

The actor later reported that he had not charged a single penny to come on board. He proved it by shooting the remainder of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE in London, then flew back via LA for some pivotal scenes, during which time he executed numerous stunts.

Tom Cruise also recognized, “He felt passionate about the segment, and all of it was cost-free despite being so logistically nuts to pull off. His determination blew us away – he flew from London to LA and back to assemble this performance.”
