Blinken also revealed more than $700 million in humanitarian aid, and Lammy promised to give £782 million in assistance plus loan guarantees. Most of it is intended to help Ukraine shore up its war-damaged energy system before the cold winter months.

The US Secretary of State also said that during a meeting on Friday with President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will raise the missile issue.

Blinken said at a news conference that "for the United States, we have been adjusting and adapting as conditions on the ground — including the battlefield — have changed. And I do not doubt that we will continue to do that as this evolves."

For his part, Lammy commented: "Our thoughts go to all of those who have suffered the most in these shocking attacks we've seen over civilian life -- particularly women and children out on journeying so horrific, barbaric, unbelievable."

The US and UK pledged to ‘support Ukraine’s success,’ while the US also promised it would stand with Ukraine.

At the same time, a reporter asked Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitri Peskov how Russia would react to the extension of the missile launches by Kyiv; he replied that "the answer is going to be commensurate."
