Mauricio Pochettino Appointed US Men's National Team Head Coach

Mauricio Pochettino, who previously managed Tottenham and Chelsea, will manage the United States in the Fourth World Cup on their home soil in 2026.

He is the new head coach of the USA as he replaced Gregg Berhalter, who was sacked after the failure of the USA to advance from the group phase at this summer's Copa America.

The retired professional footballer has managed various clubs, including Espanyol, Southampton, and Paris Saint Germain, over the 15 years of his career. Subsequently, he will have to take up solely political stresses, and Own Goals will be his first political post outside the domestic context.

It was Mauricio who said, "The move to U.S. Soccer was not simply limited to serving in the Executive position so as to assist in the thought of soccer in the country; it was how far this team and this land has come. The energy, the rage, and the desire to do something groundbreaking in making history here - these are the things that led me to come."

In the end, I figured out, "I could never forget the opportunity offered to me to head the U.S. Men's National Team while the audience supports me as fiercely as the players. Here is a set of new and very bright players, and together, we will create something very good for the whole country."

Mauricio's first match as head of the US National Team will be against Panama on October 12 in Austin, Texas.
